
Our Work
Cheryl Heggie School of Dance has worked closely with many types of businesses and organisations. From local school galas and charity events to film makers and weddings we can bring a host of experience to any event. With a flexible approach, we can provide workshops, talks, performances and storytelling. We are always excited to work with new projects.
Elevate
Gracefully performing on the stage at the prestigious Eden Court Theatre, we have created and performed Highland Dance routines for the 'Elevate’ and ‘Big Dance Show’ productions. The events celebrate various dance styles found in the Highlands and Islands. Watch the latest performance here.

Tourism
We work in partnership with many tour operators, travel agents, hotels and guides to bring a traditional display of Highland Dance to entertain visitors. A visit to Scotland is not complete without watching the precision of a dancers footwork over the Sword. Performers meet guests, teach steps and chat about the history of our traditional art form.
The Bachelorette
This project involved an exhibit of traditional dancing for the US series 'The Bachelorette'. With a Highland Games theme, we provided a display in front of the formidable Castle of Leys.


Greek Travel Show
When the Greek Travel Show 'Globe Trotters' came to Inverness, we introduced contestants to a traditional highland games. We taught contestants to Highland Dance and gave a brief history lesson on our famous Highland Games. We worked in partnership with pipers and heavy weights to produce a fun afternoon. The Newyorker
Working with the renowned photographer, Robbie Lawrence, dancers were interviewed and filmed at class and out on location for "The Newyorker" documentary.

Highland Military Tattoo
Held at Fort George, we joined forces with other local highland dancers from our area, to perform in a super team. We collectively danced both traditional and bespoke choreographed routines in this amazing show to delighted audiences.
Belgium Tattoo
Pupils travelled to Belgium to join the International Tattoo Highland Dance team and perform 2 choreographed pieces at the Nationale Taptoe / Belgium Tattoo.


Disneyland Paris
Joining a team of 200 highland dancers from across the globe, we performed along the famous Disneyland Paris Main Street to the enchanted crowds. Whilst visiting Paris, pupils took part in dance competitions and performances.
Guest Instructor
We work regularly with nurseries, toddler groups and charitable organisations to provide music and movement classes for the early years.


Achnagairn Castle
We have enjoyed collaborating with this unique Scottish Castle over the years. It's always a pleasure to perform inside the magical ballroom to a large group of guests or entertain a smaller group in the Table Manors Restaurant. Dancers were delighted to take part in a fun mini Highland Games on the green.
FILM G
The dance school produced a short film for entry into the Gaelic film competition called FILM G. The film was a great success and won 2 awards - 'BEST SCRIPT' and 'PEOPLE'S CHOICE AWARD'. View the video here.


The Apprentice
We had the delight of filming with a renowned BBC show, were we met the participants and taught them the art of ceilidh dancing as part of their Corporate Away Day task.
Visit Inverness Loch Ness Video
The dance school was invited to represent highland dance in a promotional video for Inverness City. We met many different people, groups and businesses who contribute to the culture of our city. View it here.


Wedding
A delightful request from the Father of the Bride led us to choreograph and perform a bespoke, secret dance with a special guest appearance from the brides father! The dance was met with enthusiasm by everyone, including the bride and groom, who were both surprised and overjoyed, along with the wedding guests!
Beating Retreat
Dance students showcased their skills in a captivating mini Tattoo performance, accompanied by musicians from Highlife Highland music tuition programme. The dancers performed to the stirring melodies a live pipe band, entertaining the audience at Inverness Leisure.


The Gathering
Collaborating with The Gathering Festival since 2021, students have provided many performances at Northern Meeting Park and Bught Park.
Loch Ness Knit Fest
We worked closely with the Loch Ness Knit Festival providing bespoke performances, traditional dances and story telling about our Scottish history and heritage.
